Under operation ‘Masoom’, Delhi Police has arrested five people for sharing online child pornography in its crackdown against the circulation of child pornography on social media platforms in the national capital.

In its crackdown against the circulation of child pornography on social media platforms under operation ‘Masoom’, Delhi Police has arrested five people for posting and circulating online child pornography in the national capital.
Acting on the incident reports generated by the online social media and messaging platforms, which are being shared through international coordination mechanisms, the CyPAD Unit took immediate cognizance of such instances and several teams were formed to identify the persons as reported against.
Delhi Police has arrested 26-year-old Ram Babu Kumar, Devender, Abdul Rehman, Mohd Umar Alam and Santosh Kumar in connection with the case.
Earlier, 26 online predators engaged in posting and transmission of online child pornography were arrested under this operation.
During interrogation, the accused revealed that they had received the content on various social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and even WhatsApp chats. They said they forwarded the videos to other individuals.
The accused have disclosed that the offensive material was either shared with them on WhatsApp or was posted on the social media profile of someone known to them, from where they either forwarded the same to someone else or copied and posted on their own social media accounts.
All the accused persons have been arrested under appropriate sections of law and sent to judicial custody. The relevant devices and SIM cards of the accused have been seized.
