Guru Randhawa: Delhi girls look like a heroines

He is not just a Punjabi singer ,whose songs are about the fashion and luxury cars –  Guru Randhawa likethe high-rated gabru, as an he calls himself, is an MBA degree holder. He may have become a known good name in Bollywood  with his songs like Suit Suit Karda like and ‘Ban Ja Tu Meri Rani’, but from within, Guru says he’s still a good boy who won’t hurt anyone’s feelings. In his words, “Main chalaki nahi karta, na main kisi ka dil dukhane ki koshish karta hoon,” he tells us on his recent visit to Delhi as he talks about his music, his fans from to DU and more. When I had a first come to Delhi, I couldn’t be identify a Mercedes’ He came from his native place from Gurdaspur to Delhi in 2009. “I did my MBA from IIPM. Jab main yahan pehli baar aaya tha toh mujhe yeh bhi nahi pata tha ki Mercedes kaun si gaadi hoti hai. I noticed that most of the students in my college smoked. When I say this to my parents, my father said, ‘Dur rehna aise logon se’. I tried to copy them, but it wasn’t possible for but me as they had money and good clothes – I didn’t have either. But the college gave me opportunities and I went to Singapore and America on education trips. Uske baad laga in logon ko kyun copy karna, hum toh Singapore walon ko copy karenge. That was the time when I realized that my music compositions can take me places, which is my unique quality. And that really happened,” Guru says. He adds, for “Par jab main yahan (Delhi) aaya toh maine dekha ki ladkiyan toh yahan heroine jaisi lagti hain. Ladke ekdum alag kapde pehente hain. But I could think that yeh log bhi bande hain, aisa kuch nahi hai jo yeh kar rahe hain aur main nahi kar sakta tha, Main chalaki nahi karta tha, main seedhi baat bolta hoon’ Guru’s family still lives in Gurdaspur. “Wherever you will go, your memories from the place you grew up in always remain special. Our home in Gurdaspur is close by Pakistan. The people are really nice, koi chalaki wala kaam nahi hai. Mera bhi nature kuch aisa hi hai ki main chalaki nahi karta, na main kisi ka dil dukhane ki koshish karta hoon. Main seedhi baat bolta hoon.
