Sivaganga MP Karti Chidambaram has said after travelling extensively across Tamil Nadu, he believes the DMK-Congress alliance will have a comfortable victory in the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. Karti Chidambaram also spoke about Rajinikanth’s decision to not launch a political party and Kamal Haasan. Speaking exclusively with India Today TV, Karti Chidambaram said Tamil Nadu wants a change.
When questioned about how the landscape is panning out ahead of the 2021 assembly polls, Karti Chidambaram said, “The landscape is rather clear…The mood is for change in Tamil Nadu and the DMK-Congress alliance will have a very comfortable victory.”
Karti Chidambaram said he has been travelling extensively across Tamil Nadu and speaking with people of the state and “I think the mood is for a change”.
“There is great resentment against the ruling AIADMK and the fact that they are very closely aligned with the BJP is putting off a lot of people,” Karti Chidambaram said.

About Rajinikanth’s exit from electoral politics, Karti Chidambaram said it was a non-event and that he was glad that the actor took a sensible decision.
“I really don’t think he was cut out for party politics. If he had further ventured into it, then it might have turned into a misadventure. I’m glad that Rajinikanth pulled out,” Karti said.
On Kamal Haasan’s idea of a Third Front, Karti Chidambaram said the MNM leader has distinctive positions on issues unlike Rajinikanth. Karti Chidambaram, however, cautioned the actor-turned-neta to be realistic.
“I think that he’s overestimating his own organisational capacity. He might be evoking a lot of interest for people who want to take selfies with him. Electorally, it won’t make any dent. It will only be a minor distraction as it was in the last Parliamentary election,” Karti Chidambaram said.
Karti Chidambaram, however, tried to encourage Kamal Haasan to choose a front if he wishes a longer-term in politics. Karti Chidambaram said the Congress-led front would be the ideal one.
About the alleged infighting within AIADMK highlighted by MK Stalin, who also said that Deputy CM O Panneerselvam might break away anytime, Karti Chidambaram said what matters is Sasikala’s reentry.
“The real crux is what is going to be the role of Sasikala when she is released from prison and what will happen to TTV Dhinakaran’s faction,” he said.
